Rice Business Plan Competition 2027: student startups, over $1 million in prizes
A team needs at least two current student founders, and at least one of them must be a graduate degree-seeking student, so undergraduate-only teams are not eligible. Universities from any country can take part; a startup must not have raised more than $250,000 in equity before 1 July 2026 or earned more than $100,000 in revenue in any 12 months. Applications are open from 9 November 2026 until 11:59 p.m. CST on 29 January 2027, the finals take place on 8-10 April 2027, and cash, investments and prizes exceed $1 million.
