IMF Fund Internship Program 2027: paid internship for PhD economists in Washington, D.C.
For PhD students in macroeconomics or a related field who are one to two years from completing their PhD and will be under 32 when the internship begins. The 10-12 week internship runs from 7 June to 27 August 2027 at IMF Headquarters in Washington, D.C.: an individual research or project assignment alongside IMF economists; it is paid and full-time (40 hours per week). Excellent English, a technical questionnaire and a cover letter are required; applicants without U.S. work authorization receive IMF documentation for a G4 visa. Applications are accepted until 5 December 2026 on the IMF recruitment portal.
