Stall Catchers: an online game for everyone that helps Alzheimer's disease research
For anyone, including school students (participants range from 6 to 88 years old, and a large part of the community is middle school students): a citizen science project of the Human Computation Institute in which participants watch videos of mouse brain vessels and mark whether blood is flowing or a vessel is stalled. This speeds up Alzheimer's disease research at Cornell University; according to the organizers, one hour of this work does what takes researchers a week in the lab. Registration is needed so that contributions can be recorded, and a walkthrough is built into the game.
