Dark Energy Explorers (HETDEX): finding distant galaxies to measure dark energy
For anyone: a Zooniverse project in which volunteers identify signals from distant galaxies in data from the Hobby-Eberly Dark Energy Experiment (HETDEX). The experiment is designed to find over one million galaxies 9 to 11 billion light-years away and build a map of the universe, from which astronomers will measure how fast the universe was expanding at different times and the role of dark energy. Participation is online with no deadline; the project is linked to the Department of Astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin.
