STEMergent Hacks 2026: online ideathon and hackathon for school and college students aged 13+

Open to students in middle school, high school and college aged 13+, individually or in teams of up to 4. Participants choose an ideathon pathway (an idea and mockup, no working prototype required) or a hackathon pathway (a working prototype) addressing problems of schools, nonprofits and local communities; projects are accepted online on 17-31 October 2026. Authors of the top hackathon-pathway projects receive an invitation to become developer interns at STEMergent.

Build With AI: Basics - a monthly online hackathon by Devpost with $2,500 in prizes

Only for participants aged 18 and over; residents of Russia, Brazil, Quebec, Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Crimea are not eligible. In one sitting participants build a first working prototype of an app with an AI coding agent (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and similar), using the Devpost Learn Skill Pack: the agent interviews you about the idea, helps plan it and gets the project ready to submit. There is a live build session, office hours and a project review; submissions close on 26 October 2026, 5:00 pm US Eastern Time. Prizes are $1,250, $750 and $500 for the top three places.
