Apart Research: AI x Epistemics Research Sprint online hackathon, 13-15 November 2026

An online weekend hackathon: participants pick an open problem in AI for epistemics, build a benchmark, tool, product or study that makes progress on it, and write up what they found. No background in AI safety is required, and several example projects need no ML skills at all. It runs 13-15 November 2026, submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. Anywhere on Earth on Sunday 15 November, and participation is free. The prize pool is $2,000 (from $1,000 for first place down to $100 for fifth), and winners get a fellowship fast-track and mentor introductions.

Apart Research: AI Collusion Research Sprint hackathon, 23-25 October 2026

An online weekend hackathon with in-person hubs at Collider in New York City and AI Safety Hong Kong: teams of 1-5 pick an open question about collusion between AI agents, build a controlled experiment that answers it and write up what they found. Engineers, researchers and people from any industry are welcome, and no background in AI safety or ML is required. It runs 23-25 October 2026 with $2,000 in cash prizes ($1,000, $500, $300 and $100 each for 4th and 5th place); winners get a fellowship fast-track and mentor introductions.
