For final-year bachelor's students, master's and PhD students, and graduates of those programmes in a related field (urban planning, environmental studies, climate change or similar); fluent English is required and knowledge of French is highly desirable. The intern in the Subnational Climate Action Unit of UNEP's Climate Change Division in Paris supports the Beat the Heat Implementation Drive and the Nature for Cooling Challenge: tracking cities' cooling commitments, helping select grant winners in Brazil, Côte d'Ivoire and Cambodia, drafting briefs and case studies on urban heat and nature-based cooling and helping organise events and trainings. Two six-month internships in person in Paris are advertised: one starting in January 2027 and one in July 2027. The internship is not paid by the UN: travel, visa, accommodation and living costs are borne by the intern or the sponsoring institution; applications are accepted until 11 October 2026 on the UN careers portal (careers.un.org).
