Open to everyone: the hackathon is free to attend and open to all, a collaborative event, not a competition. On 14-15 November 2026 in San Francisco and online, developers and experts write code, samples and utilities that show practical implementations of IETF standards (past hackathons covered BGP, DNS, QUIC, TLS 1.3 and more); projects are picked on the hackathon wiki. Registration and the project list are on the IETF page.
