For final-year bachelor's students, master's and PhD students, and graduates of those programmes; a field of study related to the internship and fluent English are required, and knowledge of another official UN language is an advantage. The intern works in the Knowledge Management and Guidance Team of the Policy and Best Practices Service of the Department of Peace Operations, whose division develops the policy and doctrine guiding UN peacekeeping operations. The format is flexible - fully remote or hybrid at UN Headquarters in New York, full-time (35 hours per week) or part-time (20 hours), for 6 months. The internship is not paid by the UN: travel, visa, accommodation and living costs are borne by the intern or the sponsoring institution; applications are accepted until 14 October 2026 on the UN careers portal (careers.un.org).
