Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Innovation Fellowship: $42,000 for PhD Students in the USA

Exclusively for PhD students in humanities and social sciences at US universities who will have completed at least two years of coursework and all required coursework by the fellowship's start date, but have not yet achieved PhD candidate/ABD status before January 1, 2026. The ACLS and Mellon Foundation fellowship for the 2027-28 academic year supports early-stage dissertations employing new methods, formats, and partnerships: $42,000, up to $8,000 for research, training, and travel, and an additional $2,000 for an external mentor. A total of up to 45 fellowships will be awarded; applications are accepted via ofa.acls.org until October 28, 2026, 5:00 PM Eastern Time (US).
