For K-12 students from any country (letters in English or Spanish). Participants pick a story from the Pulitzer Center's reporting on one of five issues (climate and environment, global health, human rights, information and AI, peace and conflict) and write a one-page letter to a local decision-maker explaining why the issue matters globally, how it connects to the local community and what solution is possible. Letters are accepted until 1 November 2026 (11:59 pm US Eastern time); the first-place winner in each category receives USD 300 for the classroom, finalists USD 75, and all entrants are invited to a virtual town hall in November.
