For teams of 3-5 school students aged 6-18 from any country (individual entries are not accepted; submissions from undergraduates aged 21-24 are also welcome). The British International Education Association (BIEA) runs its 2027 STEM competition season, "Ocean Balance", on how to end overfishing: a project can focus on bycatch reduction technology, monitoring and enforcement against illegal fishing, sustainable aquaculture or selective, low-impact fishing gear and methods. The competition report and BIEA STEM Star registration are due online by 18 December 2026, finalist panels run in February-March 2027, and the international final takes place on 6 July 2027 in London; the mandatory BIEA STEM Star project costs £25 per student.
